“The Last Resort is a piece from my recent exhibition Lacuna, which opened at Saint Cloche gallery, Paddington NSW. In this series I examined themes of loss, searching and escapism. The collection visits a kind of after-life, using the night sky and the earth’s atmosphere as a metaphor for the unknown and our longing to understand the universe. We chose a section of The Last Resort, as its stillness reflects Pord’s philosophy of slowing down, appreciating your environment and escaping from the chaos of the everyday. Through expanses of colour this piece evokes vast atmospheres and fields of consciousness, a sublime stillness that you can lose yourself in – as you lose yourself in Pord’s three litres of conversation.”
