There are also several affordable campgrounds near the coast, including several camping sites right on the edge of the sea where you can listen to waves crashing all night long.
1) Fishing City Campsite – South Fremantle
To get there, head south on Stock Road from Cottesloe Street until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west. Follow this road down until it runs onto Port Beach Road by an old lighthouse. Follow this road down until you reach South Beach.
2) Flagstaff Hill (Hospital Camping Ground) – Fremantle
Head south on Stock Road from Cottesloe Street until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west. Keep following this road as it becomes High Street and goes through the suburbs of Crawley and Hamilton Hill.
When you reach Leach Highway (Highway 1), cross over onto West Coast Highway that eventually turns into Marmion Avenue. You’ll see a sign for Royal Perth Golf Club when you get closer to the coast, which will lead you onto Hospital Road where the camping ground is located.
3) Bibra Lake Regional Park – Cockburn
Take early morning Mitchell Freeway to Alexander Drive, then turn left onto Kwinana Freeway and continue for about 45 minutes. Merge with Farrington Road to join Marmion Avenue heading west down until you reach Myalup-Kelmscott Road.
Go straight up this road and take the first right onto Bibra Lake Road which will lead you into the park and to your camping site.
4) Trigg Island Caravan Park – Scarborough
Head north on Stock Road from Cottesloe Street until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west past Herdsman Lake. Keep going straight as the highway becomes Scarborough Beach Road (Highway 1) and follow it down until you reach Trigg Island.
5) Mettams Pool Caravan Park – Kwinana
Take early morning Mitchell Freeway to Alexander Drive, then turn left onto Kwinana Freeway and continue for about 45 minutes. Merge with Farrington Road to join Marmion Avenue heading west down until you reach Myalup-Kelmscott Road.
Go straight up this road and take a right at Williams Street in Jervoise Bay. Follow this road straight through the roundabout and crossover Roe Highway toward Port Bouvard. Turn left onto Yarraman Way, then right onto Douro Road which will lead you into your camping area.
6) South Beach Caravan Park
Located north of Perth on Stock Road, this caravan park offers camping at affordable rates. You can get there by heading south on Stock Road from Cottesloe Street until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west past Herdsman Lake.
Keep going straight as the highway becomes Scarborough Beach Road (Highway 1) and follow it down until you reach Trigg Island – here, take a left onto South Beach Road which will lead you into your destination.
7) Perth Caravan Park
This is another prime choice if you’re searching for low-cost camping near the coast in Perth. It’s located north of Perth on Kings Park Road, just off Great Eastern Highway – head east on that road until it intersects with Lord Street, then turn right.
Take the second left which will lead you up Greenmount Hill, and follow this road until it becomes Park Road after passing Royal Perth Golf Club. Keep following this road down to the coast where it will eventually turn into Albany Highway.
Turn right onto Stirling Highway, then left onto Great Eastern Highway – take this road for about 20 minutes until you see a sign for Kings Park on your left. If you reach Roe Highway, you’ve gone too far.
8) Beeliar Regional Park
This is an expansive camping ground along the Indian Ocean in Perth. To get there from Cottesloe Street, head south on Stock Road until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west past Herdsman Lake.
Keep going straight as the highway becomes Marmion Avenue (Highway 1) and follow it down until you reach Stirling Highway – here, turn right to join South Street toward Beeliar. Follow this road through the town of Bibra Lake then keep left onto Old Coast Road which will lead you into your destination.
9) Koombana Bay Caravan Park
If you’re planning on camping near Bunbury, Koombana Bay Caravan Park is an economical choice located on Henderson Street, just off Forrest Highway. Head north on Stock Road from Cottesloe Street until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right join Albany Highway heading west past Herdsman Lake.
Keep going straight as the highway becomes Marmion Avenue (Highway 1) and follow it up until you reach Bunbury. If you’re on Forrest Highway, head east to Koombana Drive then turn left onto Henderson Street for about 5 minutes – your destination is straight ahead.
10) Dunsborough Caravan Park
One of many camping grounds in Dunsborough, this one offers affordable rates while provide
ing easy access to Busselton Airport – perfect if you want to get out without too much trouble.
To get there from Cottesloe Street, head south on Stock Road until it ends in South Terrace, then turn right to join Albany Highway heading west past Herdsman Lake. Take the first right onto Bussell Highway toward Busselton, then turn left onto Mill Street which will lead you into your destination.
